Meet Grace!
Grace is a physiotherapist with 5 years of experience within her field. Her journey into physiotherapy was inspired by the care provided to her grandmother, which highlighted the critical role that mobility and support play in maintaining independence as we age.
Grace is passionate about achieving positive change through small, realistic improvements. She approaches client goals by first understanding what truly matters to them, building confidence and strength, and collaborating closely with families and other healthcare providers. She strongly advocates that many conditions attributed to “just getting older” are actually treatable, and with evidence-based physiotherapy, a significant difference in health and mobility is possible at any age.

How did you get into your chosen field?
My journey into aged care physiotherapy started with my grandmother. She loves to sing and dance but her mobility slowly deteriorated as she aged. I was inspired by how the right support could help older adults maintain independence and quality of life. What keeps me passionate about this field is the privilege of working with people at a stage of life where small improvements make huge differences – whether it’s preventing falls, reducing pain, or helping someone return to activities they love.
What are your qualifications?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy
How long have you been a Physio and what are your past experiences in allied health?
5 years
What is your favourite way to move your body?
Pilates, Walks, Gym
How do you help people achieve their goals?
I help people achieve their goals by firstly understanding what truly matters to them. This means considering what would make the biggest difference in their daily life, not just what I think is best for them, and then creating a realistic, step-by-step plan together. I focus on building confidence as much as building strength, and I make sure clients can see and feel their progress. I also work closely with families and other providers to ensure everyone’s working toward the same outcomes.
What is one thing that you wish everyone knew about Physiotherapy?
I wish more people knew that ‘Just Aging’ is often treatable. I wish everyone knew that ‘it’s just part of getting older’ is one of the most harmful myths in healthcare. So many older adults accept pain, reduced mobility, or loss of function as inevitable, when there are actually evidence-based treatments that can help. Yes, aging brings changes, but the difference between someone who’s active and independent at 85 versus someone who’s not, often comes down to whether they receive proper intervention and support. Age is not a disease – and most age-related decline is manageable.
What’s your approach to helping clients?
For older adults, I focus on maintaining independence, preventing falls, and managing chronic conditions. I take time to build trust, explain things clearly, and involve family members when appropriate. Goals include practical things like walking to the shops safely, getting in and out of the car, or managing arthritis pain to stay active. I work at a comfortable pace and celebrate every milestone – because regaining confidence is just as important as regaining strength.
For younger clients, the approach is often more dynamic and goal-oriented around their lifestyles, such as returning to work or sports.
What’s the most rewarding client success story you’ve experienced?
One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a 77-year-old Mandarin speaking client who had to complete a 2 kilometre walk without any gait aid every day. She had a fall, broke her hip, and had to have a total hip replacement. Her main meaningful goal was to be able to walk outside her house again. We started small, building confidence and strength. 7 weeks post operation we were able to walk outside with a walker for 20m. It wasn’t a lot compared to her previous daily walks but it gave her the independence back. That’s the kind of outcome that reminds me why I love this work.
